The winegrowers' association was founded in 1993 with its headquarters in Bad Dürkheim in Rhineland-Palatinate (Germany) under the name "Barrique Forum Pfalz". There are 24 member wineries from the Pfalz growing region. The aim at the time was to promote the barrique ageing of exclusively red wines, which was still controversial at the time. At the general meeting in January 2019, a new board was elected with Marco Göbel and Marius Meyer at the helm. At the annual general meeting in June 2019, a new orientation was decided. The name "Barrique" was dropped and the association now operates as "FORUM PFALZ e.V. - Der kleine Kreis für Große Weine". Another significant change is the admission of white wines.
