The winery is located in Hollenburg, a district of Krems on the Danube in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Kremstal. It has been in the family since 1868. The parents Meinhard and Hermine Forstreiter handed over the business to their son Meinhard jr. and his wife Isabella in 2001. Parts of the cellar are already 300 years old. The partly terraced vineyards cover 28 hectares of vineyards in the Kremser Kogl and Schiefer vineyards. 80% of the vineyards are planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Gelber Muskateller and Sauvignon Blanc, and 20% with the red wine varieties Zweigelt, St. Laurent and, as a novelty, Zinfandel (first harvest vintage 2000). The vineyards are cultivated according to the rules of organic viticulture. This includes green manuring and plant protection that is gentle on beneficial insects.
