The winery is located in the municipality of Saarburg (Saar area) in the German wine-growing region of Mosel. It was the family estate of Ferdinand Geltz (1851-1925), the King of Prussia's forester. Today it is owned by his grandson Hans-Joachim Zilliken. The vineyards cover 11 hectares of vines in the single vineyard sites Bockstein (Ockfen) and Rausch (Saarburg). They are exclusively planted with Riesling, the average age of the vines is 30 years. The average yield is limited to 50 hectolitres per hectare. The three-storey cellar is located up to nine metres deep under the estate building at a constant 10 °Celsius and almost 100% humidity, where the wines ferment and mature under ideal conditions exclusively in traditional wooden barrels. Bottle-fermented Riesling sparkling wines are also produced. The winery is a member of the VDP (Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates) and the Winzervereinigung Pro Riesling.
