Fonte Cal

The white grape variety (also Fonte de Cal) originates from Portugal. It was first mentioned there in 1790. The medium-mature vine is moderately susceptible to both types of mildew. It produces aromatic white wines with moderate acidity and ageing potential. The variety is grown in the Beira Interior and Península de Setúbal areas. In 2010, the area under cultivation was 111 hectares (ten years ago it was 355).
