single vineyard in the municipality of Alsheim ( Nierstein area) in the German wine-growing region of Rheinhessen. The east-facing vineyards at 85 to 160 metres above sea level with a slope of 5 to 15% cover 34 hectares of vines. The soils consist of loess over tertiary sand and hanging loam. The Riesling, Silvaner and Kerner varieties are cultivated here. The Oswald Volker and Rappenhof wineries, for example, have shares in the site.
There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
