Fisherman Otto

The winery is located in the municipality of Nimburg-Bottingen (Kaiserstuhl area) in the German Baden wine region. It was founded in 1978 by Otto and Mina Fischer to process their own grapes and market the wines under their own name. In 1996 the property was sold to Silvia and Joachim Heger due to age reasons. The cellar master is Manfred Zimmermann. The vineyards comprise 17 hectares of vineyards in the single vineyard Nimburg-Bottinger Steingrube on shell limestone soils with a light loess layer. They are planted with the red wine varieties Spätburgunder(Pinot Noir), Frühburgunder, Samtrot, St. Laurent and Lemberger (Blaufränkisch), and the white wine varietiesPinot Gris, PinotBlanc, Chardonnay, Riesling, Auxerrois and Müller-Thurgau. The grapes for the white wines are processed with whole grape pressing. Most of the vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks and some in barriques. The red wines are aged after a classic maceration and BSA, mostly in large wooden barrels and also in barriques
