The winery is located in the municipality of Sooß in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region Thermenregion. It has been owned by the family since 1662 and is one of the red wine pioneers of the region. Today it is run by Franziska Fischer. The vineyards cover 17 hectares of vines on the south-eastern slopes of the Sooßer Lindkogel. They are planted with the red wine varieties Zweigelt, Blauer Portugieser, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, as well as with the white wine varieties Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Grüner Veltliner and Chardonnay. The premium wines include the red wine cuvées "Gradenthal" (Zweigelt, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, aged for 15 months in 70% new barriques) and "Cabernet-Merlot" (aged for 18 months in 100% new barriques), as well as Pinot Noir Reserve and Zweigelt Fasangarten. Around 100,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. Fine brandies are also produced.
For my many years of work as an editor with a wine and culinary focus, I always like to inform myself about special questions at Wine lexicon. Spontaneous reading and following links often leads to exciting discoveries in the wide world of wine.
