First choice

Term formerly used in Austria for quality wines. It could only be used for vintage wines with the best recognisable characteristics with regard to their varietal character and origin. In addition, the label had to contain information on the selection criteria. However, this designation is no longer mentioned in the current Designation Ordinance of 2011. First Choice corresponds to the designation Selection with Equal Conditions, as stated in this regulation.
