The red grape variety comes from France. Synonyms are Faunata, Fleuna, Floa, Fumate and Funate. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2012, it is a cross between Gouais Blanc x Paugayen. However, this is based on only 20 DNA markers (see molecular genetics). The late maturing vine produces colourful, tannin-rich red wines with a rustic character. It is cultivated on a small scale in the Département Drôme (South-East France). However, no stocks were reported in 2016. A small stock is said to also exist in Canada.
