The white grape variety is a new breeding between Grand Noir de la Calmette x Fernão Pires, which was confirmed by DNA analyses carried out in 2020. Synonyms are Alemtejana and Alentejana. The cross was made by the breeder José Leão Ferreira de Almeida at the National Research Centre near Lisbon. The vine yields white wines with a light foxtone and herbal aromas. The variety is grown in tiny quantities in Portugal's Centro region. In 2016, 0.1 vineyard area was reported (Kym Anderson statistics).
