The winery "Bodegas Faustino (Martínez)" is located in the municipality of Oyón near Logroño in the Spanish Rioja sub-region Rioja-Alavesa. It was founded in 1860 by Eleuterio Martínez Arzok, who sold his wines in barrels. His son Faustino Martínez Pérez de Albéniz took over the business in 1930 and began bottling under his own name. In 1960, founding grandson Julio Faustino Martínez established the international reputation of the company with the famous "Faustino" line. Today, the company is managed by José Luis Fernandez de Jubera, the fourth generation of the family to run the business. The company's own vineyards cover 650 hectares of vineyards in the four municipalities of Oyón, Laguardia, Logroño and Mendavia. Grapes are also purchased in large quantities. There are 25,000 barrique barrels available for ageing, three quarters of which are made from American oak and one quarter from French oak. Every year, about a sixth of the barrels are replaced by new ones. The empire also includes the wineries Campillo (Rioja), Leganza (Toledo), Marques de Vitoria (Rioja), Portia (Ribera del Duero), Valcarlos (Navarre) and Victorianas (Rioja).
