The winery is located in the municipality of Rhodt unter Rietburg (Südliche Weinstraße area) in the German wine-growing region of Pfalz. The traditional Kastanienhof has been family-owned since 1780. Today, the farm is run by Karl-Heinz and son Knut Fader, supported by their wives Hedwig and Heike. The vineyards cover 18 hectares in the single vineyard sites Münzberg (Godramstein), as well as Klosterpfad, Rosengarten and Schlossberg (Rhodt). Grapes from a further three hectares are purchased from contract winegrowers. The white wine varieties Riesling (mainly in the Schlossberg), Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Auxerrois, Muscat and Gewürztraminer, as well as the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Blauer Portugieser, Dornfelder, St. Laurent and Merlot are cultivated and processed.
