Espanhola

An alcoholic mixed drink from Brazil made from beer and wine. A beer glass is filled two-thirds full with mostly sweet red wine and a light wheat beer is poured on top. It must not be stirred or shaken. You now have to wait five minutes until the two liquids have mixed. This results in the formation of flakes. The purpose is to tone down the alcohol content of the wine a bit and make it taste less sweet, which is very popular in the Brazilian heat. The drink has a peculiar brownish colour with a tart taste. However, there are other alcoholic mixed drinks with other ingredients such as wine, milk and pineapple under the name Espanhola (in Portuguese "Spanish" and also with a vulgar meaning). See also lists of similar drinks or mixtures under mixed wine drinks, wine-like drinks, wine-based drinks and special wines.
