The white grape variety comes from Portugal. Synonyms are Esganosa de Ponte de Lima, Esganoso, Esganoso de Lima and Esganoso de Ponte. Nothing is known about the parentage (parenthood) or a possible relationship to the variety Sercial (with Esganoso synonyms). The high-yielding vine produces white wines that tend to oxidise quickly. It is cultivated in the Douro and Vinho Verde areas. However, no stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
For my many years of work as an editor with a wine and culinary focus, I always like to inform myself about special questions at Wine lexicon. Spontaneous reading and following links often leads to exciting discoveries in the wide world of wine.
