The winery is located in the municipality of Schwaikheim (Remstal-Stuttgart area) in the German wine-growing region of Württemberg. The origins lie in the 1960s, when Meta and Otto Escher started growing grapes on an area with 900 vines. In 1990, the area was expanded to include other top vineyards in the Rems Valley and the farm structure was changed to bottled wine marketing. Today, the winery is run by Ottmar and Christian Escher. After training at the Gerhard Aldinger winery (Fellbach) and at the Weinsberg state winery, practices in wineries in South Tyrol, Canada and South Africa and graduating as a wine technologist, their son Christian Escher is responsible for vinification and marketing.
