The winery is located in the municipality of Großwiesendorf, 25 kilometres east of Krems in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Wagram. It is already being farmed by the fifth generation of the family. After graduating from the Krems School of Viticulture, Harald Ernst took over his parents' business in 1991. The first great success came just two years later, when the Riesling was chosen as the best wine in Austria. The vineyards cover 8.5 hectares on loess soils. They are planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Pinot Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc, as well as with the red wine varieties Zweigelt and St. Laurent. The vineyards are cultivated according to the strict environmental regulations of the KIP (integrated controlled production). The vine's nutrient requirements are largely met through the cultivation of legumes and a lot of humus production in the vineyard. The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand. Gentle grape processing is followed by controlled, chilled fermentation. The premium wines include Grüner Veltliner in the Classic, Kabinett, Alte Rebe and Reserve varieties, Riesling Hohenberg and Zweigelt.
