The red grape variety is a new breed between Adisi(Hadisi) x Cabernet Sauvignon. The crossing was made in 1953 by the breeder S. A. Pogosyan at the Armyansk Institute in the former USSR(Armenia). The Echmiadzini variety was created with the same parents. In 2016 no stock was recorded (Kym Anderson).
