Equator

The equator crosses the continents of Africa, Asia(Indonesia) and South America as well as the three oceans Atlantic, Pacific and Indian. The continental states crossed are Gabon, the Republic of Congo, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, Kenya and Somalia in Africa, as well as Ecuador (which takes its name from the equator), Colombia and Brazil in South America. The tropical climate zone is located on both sides of the equator.

Due to the high position of the sun throughout the year, solar radiation is very high and almost constant. There is an almost constant cloud formation and a constant level of precipitation. The so-called equatorial climate is characterised by a mild climate throughout the year. Seasons such as spring, summer, autumn and winter do not occur on a European scale, for example.
