Encruzado

The white grape variety (also Salgueirinho) originates from Portugal. The parentage is unknown. The early to medium ripening vine is moderately productive. It produces acidic, full-bodied white wines with aromas of peppers, roses, violets and lemons, as well as resin and hazelnut when old. These tend to oxidise. The variety is grown almost exclusively in the Dão area. In 2016, 132 hectares of vines were reported, with a decreasing trend (Kym Anderson).

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
