DOC area for red, rosé and white wines in the Portuguese region of Lisboa. The former IPR area was upgraded in 2006 and incorporated into the Alcobaça IPR area. Encostas d'Aire should not be confused with the former IPR area Encostas da Nave, which is now part of the DOC area Távora-Varosa. The two sub-areas Alcobaça and Ourém may be added on the label. Important white wine varieties are Arinto, Fernão Pires, Tamarez and Vital, important red wine varieties Baga, Periquita (Castelão Francês) and Tinta Amarela (Trincadeira Preta).

In the past, you needed a wealth of encyclopaedias and specialist literature to keep up to date in your vinophile professional life. Today, Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one of my best helpers and can rightly be called the "bible of wine knowledge".
