Enantio

The red grape variety originates from northern Italy, namely from Trentino. Synonyms are Foglia Frastagliata, Foja Tonda, Frastagliata, Lambrusco Nostrano, Lambrusco a Foglia Frastagliata (Lambrusco di Foglia Frastagliata), Nostram, Nostram de Avi, Sbeca and Zicolada. The name Lambrusco a Foglia Frastagliata was the official main name until the early 1990s. The variety was then renamed Enantio in 1992 after Oenanthium, mentioned by Pliny the Elder (23-79), but a possible relationship with this variety as a possible ancestor cannot be verified. The reason was the frequent confusion with the confusingly named varieties Lambrusco a Foglia Tonda (Casetta) and Foglia Tonda.
