Elba Aleatico Passito

DOCG area (also Aleatico Passito dell'Elba) for a red sweet wine in the Italian region of Tuscany. The high classification was made in 2010 and the zone includes all the municipalities of the Island of Elba, which is part of the province of Livorno. It must be made from 100% pure Aleatico variety. The grapes are dried for an average of two weeks on wooden racks. The actual alcohol content of the ruby red sweet wine must be at least 11.5% and the total alcohol content (including residual sugar) at least 19% vol. If the grapes come from classified vineyards, Vigna followed by the name of the vineyard can be indicated.
