The winery is located in the municipality of Joching in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Wachau. It has been run as a family business since 1954. In the 1960s, Gerhard Eigl pioneered the production of red wine in this region with the St. Laurent variety. In 2007, a newly built cellar was put into operation. A wine tavern in the neighbouring municipality of Wösendorf is connected. The farm has been run by Christian and Romana Eigl since the 1980s. The vineyards cover 11 hectares in the Engerweg, Kollmitz, Pichel Point, Postaller, Stein am Rain, Steinerne Brücke and Steinwand vineyards, most of which are on steep terraces. They are planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Chardonnay, Frühroter Veltliner, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Rivaner (Müller-Thurgau), as well as with the red wine varieties Zweigelt, St. Laur ent and Blauer Portugieser. The white wines are fermented and matured in stainless steel tanks, the red wines mature for up to two years in large wooden bar rels or in barrique. The winery is a member of the Vinea Wachau Nobilis Districtus winegrowers' association.
