The winery is located in the 23rd district of Liesing in the district of Mauer in the south of the Austrian capital Wien. The traditional family has been cultivating wine since 1347. A wine tavern is attached. Since 1998, the winery has been run by Michael Edlmoser, who practised with Emmerich Knoll in the Wachau and with Hall Crest Vineyards in Santa Cruz (California). He was also the initiator of the AWC international wine competition, which has been held annually in Wien since 2004. The vineyards cover ten hectares of vineyards on the southern foothills of the Vienna Woods on the Maurerberg. They are 70% planted with the white wine varieties Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Goldburger, Gelber Muskateller and Riesling, and 30% with the red wine varieties Zweigelt, Cabernet Sauvignon, St. Laurent and Syrah. The vineyards are cultivated according to the guidelines of organic viticulture. The estate's premium wines are Riesling Maurerberg, Chardonnay Grande Reserve and the red wine cuvée Vertigo (CS, Zweigelt, St. Laurent). The winery is a member of the winegrowers' associations Traditionsweingüter Österreich and WienWein.
There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
