Dzhandzhal Kara

The red grape variety originates from Uzbekistan. There are about 30 synonyms, some of which are Djandjal Kara, Dzandzal Kara, Dzhan Kara, Dzhigdzhigi Chernyj, Dzsidzsigi Kara, Jigjigy Black, Kara Djandjal, Kara Dzhandzhal, Kara Mimise, Kara Semise, Kara Semiz, Katta Goulyabi, Semise Kara, Semise Karo and Semiz Kara. The ancestry (parentage) is not clear despite DNA analyses. A genetic relationship to the sultana variety Kishmish Vatkana is suspected. The vine is resistant to powdery mildew. It is used as table grape. No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
