The champagne house with its headquarters in Vertus was founded in 1859 by the two families Duval and Leroy. It is still family-owned and is now run by the sixth generation, Carol Duval-Leroy. Sandrine Logette-Jardin serves as cellar master. The vineyards cover 200 hectares of vines, 40% of which are in Grand Cru and Premier Cru sites in the Montagne de Reims and Côte des Blancs areas. Environmentally friendly viticulture is practised, which is also documented by solar cells on the new cellar building. The champagnes are characterised by an aromatic, fruit-driven style. For example, the qualities "Blanc de Chardonnay", "Femme de Champagne", "Brut Rosé", "Premier Cru", and "Vintage", as well as two organically certified wines are produced. A Duval-Leroy champagne was the favourite brand of the German actor Heinrich George (1893-1946). Together with ALCAN Packaging Capsules, the special sparkling wine closure called MAESTRO was developed and presented to the public in 2009.
