Durbanville Hills

The winery is located in Durbanville in the South African wine-growing area of the same name (Ward). The young giant winery was, so to speak, built from the ground up in the 1990s. It is majority-owned by the Distillers Corporation, and many grape growers are involved. The main building is a futuristic concrete block on a hill with a view of Table Mountain and Table Bay 30 kilometres away. It contains an 8.5 million euro state-of-the-art high-tech winery. Winemaker Martin Moore previously worked for six years at the famous Groot Constantia winery. The vineyards cover 770 hectares of vines. They are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Pinotage, Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. The first vintage produced was 1999 and the wines are aged in the three lines of simple grape variety wines, the "Rhinofields" series and the single vineyard wines aged in barriques.
