The winery is located in the municipality of Falkenstein in the Weinviertel winegrowing region of Lower Austria. The winery is managed by Georg Klein and Matthias Marchesani (marketing and sales) together with Christoph Körner (winemaker). The vineyards comprise 58 hectares of vineyards in the Ekartsberg, Kirchberg, Neuberg, Rabenstein, Rosenberg and Rösselgarten. They are planted to 90% with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Welschriesling,Pinot Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Gelber Muskateller, and 10% with the red wine varieties Cabernet Sauvignon,Pinot Noir, Merlot and Zweigelt. The vineyard is cultivated in a natural way, including greening of the rows of vines to promote biodiversity. Only auxiliaries that comply with the KIP guidelines are used. The company produces sustainably with its own eco-management rules and according to certified guidelines of Nachhaltig Austria. For the purpose of energy self-sufficiency, a solar system is operated and geothermal energy is used in the cellar.
According to the objectives, wines with typical origins are to be vinified that combine all the positive virtues of the classic Austrian white wine. The grapes are harvested late to preserve the fruity character. The wines are produced in three product lines. Maturation is carried out specifically according to the type of wine sought. The grapes for the fine fruity wines of the "Klassik" and "Trinkvergnügen" series are destemmed (rubbed), gently pressed pneumatically after a short maceration period (cold maceration), fermented at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks and then remain on the fine yeast for several months.
The grapes for the top line "Prime Wine" (site reserves) are selectively harvested by hand, with late thinning out ensuring high must levels and higher alcohol content. Cold maceration for days leads to an intensive extraction of aromas and tannins. Usually the wines remain on the lees (sur lie) in large wooden barrels (500 to 1,300 l) until the next harvest. Among the premium wines are various Weinviertel DAC. In suitable years also ice wines are pressed. Edelbrand and grape juice are also produced.
