DRC

Short name (also D.R.C.) for the world-famous wine estate in the French wine-growing region of Burgundy; see under Domaine de la Romanée-Conti.

The famous wine estate in French Burgundy is located in the municipality of Vosne-Romanée north of Nuits-Saint-Georges in the Côte de Nuits part of the Côte d'Or. The estate includes the best sites in the commune and covers around 25 hectares. These include the Grand Crus La Tâche and Romanée-Conti as well as parts of the Grand Crus Richebourg and Romanée-Saint-Vivant (but not the Grand Cru site La Romanée ).

Name for vineyard and site

The estate also includes the Grand Cru vineyards Échezeaux and Grands Échezeaux in the commune of Flagey-Échezeaux, as well as parts of the Grand Cru vineyard Le Montrachet. Incidentally, the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti is the only exception to the rule in Burgundy that a vineyard may not be named after a site.
