The winery is located in the municipality of Spitz an der Donau in the wine-growing region of Wachau in Lower Austria. There is documentary evidence that wine has been pressed in the cellar since 1602. The winery has been in the family since 1966 and has been run by Alexandra and Martin Donabaum since 1997. A guesthouse and the wine tavern "Zum Strawanzer" in Spitz, which opened in 2002, are also attached. The vineyards cover 5.5 hectares in the Hartberg, Offenberg and Setzberg vineyards. They are 80% planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Neuburger, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc, and 20% with Zweigelt. The premium wines include Riesling Smaragd Setzberg, Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Setzberg, Neuburger Smaragd alte Stöcke and Weißburgunder Jubilée Smaragd. In years with suitable weather conditions, Trockenbeerenauslesen and ice wines are also produced. Around 30,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines and noble brandies are also produced. The winery is a member of Vinea Wachau Nobilis Districtus.
