Domaine Wardy

Wine brand of the company "Solifed" (Société Libanaise de Fermentation et de Distillation) in the town of Zahlé in the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon. The origin goes back to 1893, when the Ghantous family started producing arrack. In 1946, the "Ghantous" and "Abou Raad" families joined forces. In 1971, the Wardy family took over the shares of Abou Raad and founded "Solifed" to produce arrack and vinegar. In 1996, it became the sole owner and named its brand-leading product "Arak Wardy". In 1997, Ghantous & Abou Raad and Solifed merged. In the same year, Solifed began producing wines under "Domaine Wardy". The company's own vineyards in Zahlé and Kfour Zahed cover 39 hectares, another 56 hectares are rented. They are planted with the red wine varieties Arinarnoa, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Caladoc, Cinsaut, Marselan, Merlot and Syrah, as well as with the white wine varieties Chardonnay, Clairette, Gewürztraminer, Muscat, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Ugni Blanc and Viognier.
