The winery is located in the municipality of Ampius on the northern Rhône. Former real estate agent Réne Rostaing started as a lateral in 1971, when he produced his first wine from 1.5 hectares. He then received excellent vineyard plots from his father-in-law Albert Dervieux-Thaize in 1990 and from his uncle Marius Gentax-Dervieux in 1993. The vineyards cover seven hectares in the Côte Rôtie area and one hectare in the Condrieu area. The main grape varieties are Syrah and Viognier. Different Côte Rôtie wines are produced, these are the basic line "Classique", as well as "La Landonne", "La Viaillière" and from over 80-year-old vines "Côte Blonde". The wines are matured in fairly new oak, 15% of which are new barriques. In 1997, vineyards in the Languedoc area were also acquired.

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
