Producer description of "Domaine Henri Bourgeois"

The winery is located in the commune of Chavignol in the French department of Cher on the upper Loire. The family, rich in tradition, has been cultivating vines for ten generations. The foundation stone for today's winery was laid in 1952 by Henri Bourgeois. Today, the estate is run by his two sons Jean-Marie and Jean-Christophe, as well as his grandsons Lionel and Arnaud Bourgeois. Jean-Marc Bourgeois is responsible for the hotel-restaurant "Côte des Monts Damnés". The vineyards cover 72 hectares of vineyards with a total of 120 parcels. Most of them are in the Sancerre appellation, only five hectares are in the Pouilly-Fumé appellation. The two varieties Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir are cultivated in the Guyot system. The cultivation is carried out according to the rules of biological (organic) viticulture as for example cover crop between the rows of vines.
