DOC area for red wine in the Italian region of Piedmont. The zone with about 230 hectares of vineyards includes the municipalities of Bubbio, Cassinasco, Castel Boglione, Castelletto Molina, Castel Rocchero, Cessole, Fontanile, Loazzolo, Maranzana, Mombaldone, Mombaruzzo, Monastero Bormida, Montabone, Olmo Gentile, Quaranti, Roccaverano, Rocchetta Palafea, San Giorgio Scarampi, Serole, Sessame and Vesime, and on the right bank of the river Belbo the municipalities of Calamandrana, Canelli and Nizza Monferrato in the province of Asti. The wine is made from 100% pure Dolcetto grapes. There is also a longer matured Superiore with a higher alcohol content.
For me, Lexicon from wein.plus is the most comprehensive and best source of information about wine currently available.Egon Mark
