DOC area for red wine in the Italian region of Piedmont. The zone covers around 600 hectares of vineyards in the municipalities of Acqui Terme, Alice Bel Colle, Bistagno, Cartosio, Cassine, Castelletto d'Erro, Castelnuovo Bormida, Cavatore, Denice, Grognardo, Melazzo, Montechiaro d'Acqui, Morbello, Orsara Bormida, Ponti, Ponzone, Ricaldone, Rivalta Bormida, Sezzadio, Spigno Monferrato, Strevi, Terzo and Vison in the province of Alessandria. The wine is made from 100% varietal Dolcetto. There is also a Superiore that is matured for longer and has a higher alcohol content. Other five Dolcetto areas in Piedmont are the DOC/DOCG wines
I have great respect for the scope and quality of the wein.plus encyclopaedia. It is a unique place to go for crisp, sound information on terms from the world of wine.
