Doçal Tinto

The red grape variety comes from Portugal. Although it appears to have synonyms or morphological similarities, it should not be confused with the Verdelho variety. A colour mutation is Doçal Blanco (Cascon Blanco). Nothing is known about a possible connection to the variety Doçal de Refóios. The late maturing, high-yielding vine produces ruby red wines. It is cultivated in the Vinho Verde area. In 2016, only 0.2 hectares of vineyard area were designated (Kym Anderson).
