The winery is located in the municipality of Großriedenthal in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Wagram. The Hauerhaus dates back to the 17th century. The winery is run by Karl Diwald senior, and Karl Diwald junior is responsible for vinification after internships in South Africa, California's Napa Valley and renowned Austrian wineries. The vineyards cover 9.5 hectares in the Diebsnest, Eisenhut, Goldberg, Hinternberg and Wadenthal vineyards. They are 70% planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Chardonnay, Frühroter Veltliner, Gelber Muskateller and Rivaner, and 30% with the red wine varieties Zweigelt, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Blauer Portugieser. Quality criteria are short pruning, good foliage care, selective hand harvesting and gentle fermentation. The leading variety Grüner Veltliner is produced in the five stages "Brise", "Classic", the "Riad'nthoi" aged in acacia barrels, "Wadental" and "Goldberg Reserve". The red wine cuvée "Tarra Rubra" is blended from Zweigelt, CS and Merlot". In addition, a bottle-fermented sparkling wine (Riesling, Chardonnay), grape juice and, in years with suitable weather conditions, ice wine are also produced.
