The winery is located in the municipality of Martinsthal in the German Rheingau wine region. It looks back on several hundred years of history and tradition. The cellars still in use today date back to the 17th century. In 1917 Jacob Diefenhardt acquired the property from Baron von Reichenau. Since that time, the winery has been family-owned; today it is managed by the Seyffardt family. After his studies in Geisenheim, one year in Stellenbosch (South Africa) as cellar master and afterwards six months with Bodega Etchart in Cafayate (Argentina) as consultant, Peter Seyffardt joined his parents' business in 1981. Since 1998 he has been managing the business. In the meantime, his daughter Julia has joined the business and is now contributing her ideas. The predominantly steep vineyards comprise almost 17 hectares of vineyards in the areas of Langenberg, Rödchen and Wildsau (Martinsthal), as well as Rothenberg (Rauenthal). They are exclusively planted with the two varieties Riesling (75%) and Spätburgunder (25%)
