Deuxième Grand Cru Classé

Second growth (also known as Deuxième Cru Classé) in the 1855 Bordeaux classification for red wines from the Médoc. The same classification also covered white wines from Sauternes and Barsac; there, this corresponds to the third tier of the classification, following the Premier Cru Classé Supérieur tier—reserved exclusively for Château d’Yquem —and the estates classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé.
