Delfin

Abbreviation for "Direct Environmental Load Focussed Inactivation". The company "Delfin Alliance" was founded by the two companies Rudolf Ohlinger (Germany) and Juvenal Ferreira da Silva (Portugal). The "Delfin" process developed there is used in the production of natural corks. Each cork is permeated with pores (lenticels) in which various microorganisms exist. Each cork also contains moisture, which favours the growth of harmful microorganisms such as moulds even at more than 8% to 10%. Fungi are significantly involved in the formation of the chemical substance trichloroanisole (TCA) in the corks, which is the cause of the dreaded cork taint.
