The winery is located in the municipality of Retuerta del Bullaque, south-west of Toledo (province of Ciudad Real) in the Spanish region of Castilla-La Mancha, near the Cabañeros National Park, between the Tajo and Guadiana basins. It was founded in 1987 by Marcial Gómez Sequeira. The vineyards cover 28 hectares of vines at 800 to 900 metres above sea level on clay soils interspersed with quartzite and pebbles. They are planted with the red wine varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Tempranillo, Syrah and Merlot, as well as the white wine variety Chardonnay. In 2006, the "Dehesa del Carrizal" area was classified as the highest Spanish wine quality level, Vino de Pago. After the harvest, the grapes are selected. Depending on the type of wine, fermentation takes place in barrique barrels, concrete vats or stainless steel tanks, with daily tastings. They are then matured in French barrique barrels of different ages.
