The winery is located in the municipality of Ingelheim ( Bingen area) 20 kilometres from Mainz in the German wine-growing region of Rheinhessen. It has been family-owned for a hundred years and is now run by Kurt and Karin Dautermann. Son Kristian Dautermann is responsible for the cellar. A guesthouse is attached. The vineyards cover nine hectares of vines. They are mainly planted with the varieties Riesling and Pinot Noir, as well as Chardonnay, Silvaner, Pinot Blanc, Gewürztraminer, Frühburgunder, Schwarzriesling (Pinot Meunier), St. Laurent, Blauer Portugieser and Domina. The vineyards are not labelled with the name of the vineyard and, since the 2004 vintage, not with the name of the Prädikat. The wines are classified with two to four stars according to their own assessment. Fine brandies (yeast, marc), grape juice and bottle-fermented sparkling wine are also produced.
For me, Lexicon from wein.plus is the most comprehensive and best source of information about wine currently available.
