The winery is located in the municipality of Spitz an der Donau in the Wachau wine growing region of Lower Austria. There is documentary evidence that wine has been pressed in the cellar since 1602. The estate has been owned by the family since 1966 and has been managed by Alexandra and Martin Donabaum since 1997. A guest house and the wine tavern "Zum Strawanzer" in Spitz, which opened in 2002, are attached. The vineyards comprise 5.5 hectares of vineyards in the Hartberg, Offenberg and Setzberg areas. They are 80% planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Neuburger, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc, and 20% with Zweigelt. The premium wines include Riesling Smaragd Setzberg, Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Setzberg, Neuburger Smaragd alte Stöcke and Pinot Blanc Jubilée Smaragd. In years with suitable weather conditions, Trockenbeerenauslese and Eiswein are also pressed. Around 30,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines and noble brandies are also produced. The winery is a member of Vinea Wachau Nobilis Districtus.
