Cuba

The island state of Cuba in the Caribbean with its capital Havana covers 109,884 km² and is part of North America. This includes around 4,195 small and tiny islands or archipelagos, which make up only 5% of the total area. The Canarreos archipelago consists of a group of around 350 islands in the south-west of the main island; the two largest are Isla de la Juventud (2,204 km²) and Cayo Largo del Sur (37.5 km²). Cuba borders the Gulf of Mexico to the north-west, the Atlantic Ocean to the north-east and the Caribbean Sea to the south. Together with the other three main islands of Jamaica, Hispaniola (with the two states of Haiti and the Dominican Republic) and Puerto Rico, Cuba is part of the Greater Antilles archipelago.
