On the Antillean island with a randtropical climate, viticulture exists only to a very small and insignificant extent. The country is mainly known for its cigars and, with regard to alcoholic beverages, for its rum (sugar cane spirit). The international beverage multinational Bacardi-Martini Limited has its origin in Cuba. In the western region of Pinar del Río, the main tobacco growing area, some Chardonnay is cultivated, from which Cuban wine is also produced. Cubans mainly drink their national drink or beer. Wine is largely imported in 10-liter containers from Spain, but there are also bottled wines from Spain, Italy, France, Australia and Chile
