The red grape variety comes from the former Yugoslavia(Croatia). Synonyms are Gustopup, Gustopupa, Gustopupica and Gustopupka. The parentage (parenthood) is unknown. There is also nothing known about possible relations to the red varieties Gustopupica Ninska or Zadarka Crna (Gustopupica Tvrda). The variety was mentioned in an ampelographic list published by Stjepan Bulić in 1925 as a variety of the island of Pag on the coast of northern Dalmatia. The vine produces balanced red wines. In 2010, however, no stock was recorded (statistics Kym Anderson).
