The appellation, named after the city of Duras, is located east of Bordeaux in the southwest wine region of France and adjoins west of Bergerac. The vineyards cover around 2,000 hectares. Red wine and rosé are blended in Bordeaux style from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Malbec. The dry to sweet white wine is made from Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and Muscadelle with shares of Chenin Blanc, Ondenc, Mauzac and Ugni Blanc. Well known producers are Château la Grave Béchade, Duc de Berticot, Domaine Amblard, Domaine de Durand, Domaine de Laulan, Domaine du Petit Malrome, Château les Savignattes and Domaine de la Solle.
