Coteaux du Vendômois

Named after the town of Vendôme, the appellation is located north of the Touraine area in the Loire wine region. The vineyards are located on both banks of the Loire tributary Loir upstream from Jasnières. The white wine is produced from Chenin Blanc with a maximum of 20% Chardonnay. The red wine is blended from Pineau d'Aunis (minimum 30%), Gamay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The rosé wine is produced from Pineau d'Aunis and maximum 30% Gamay. A speciality is a light vin gris (very light rosé wine) from Pineau d'Aunis. Well known producers are Domaine du Four à Chaux, Patrice Colin, Emile Heredia and Domaine Minier.
