DOC area for white wine in the Italian region of Piedmont. It covers a large part of the Alto Monferrato hills with over 200 hectares of vines in 35 municipalities in the province of Asti and 51 municipalities in the province of Alessandria. The wine is made from the Cortese variety (85%) and other authorised varieties (max. 15%). There is also a Frizzante and Spumante. See also under Monferrato.
