Cork fire

Information contained on the side surface of a cork, which is either burned in or printed on. Customs and wine laws vary from country to country. Mandatory information in Austria is the wine-growing region for quality sparkling wine and Hauersekt (not for sparkling wine). Mandatory information in Germany is the producer for quality wine. On French corks one often finds the text mise en bouteille à la propriété (producer bottling). Often the vintage is also included on the bottom (wine side).
