Corbina

The red grape variety comes from Italy. Synonyms are Corbina Comune, Corbina Nostrana, Corbina Padovana, Corbina Vicentina, Corbinella, Vice and Vicentina. The parentage (parenthood) is unknown. It must not be confused with the varieties Corvina Veronese, Corvinone or Hrvatica (all three with the synonym Corbina), in spite of apparently indicative synonyms or morphological similarities. The two varieties Corbina and Corvina Veronese were previously thought to be identical, but this was refuted by DNA analyses carried out in 2007. The variety is grown in Veneto, where it is authorised in the DOC wine Bagnoli di Sopra. In 2016, 12 hectares of vineyard area were designated (statistics Kym Anderson).
